How to get a Norway Schengen Visa appointment in New York – The Basics
Here’s what you need to do to book a Norway Schengen Visa appointment from New York:
- The Norwegian Consulate has outsourced all visa applications from New York to VFS Global.
Visa applications from New York are collected and examined by the Norwegian Consulate after they go through the VFS Global appointment and tracking systems.
After filling in the visa application form, you will be redirected to the VFS Global official website.
Click on “Schedule an appointment“.
You will then be redirected to the following page. You will have to register as a new user. For this, click on ‘New User?‘.
Fill in the details in the form below. Select any available date and time slot.
After you have registered as a new user, you will be redirected to the Login page. Key in your credentials. You will then be redirected to your home page. Click on ‘Schedule Appointment’.
You will then be asked to select your preferred center. Select the New York center here. Once you have selected the center, you can click on the hyperlink to know the earliest available appointment slot. Click on ‘Continue’.
Click on ‘Add Applicant’.
Fill in the form provided.
You can then click on ‘Continue’.
Select your desired date and appointment slot from the interactive calendar and click on ‘Confirm’.
You will then be given your appointment reference number.
VFSGlobal has the bandwidth to support a minimum of 30 applications a day. However, an appointment at VFSGlobal is subject to availability and is not usually easy to get. The handling charge for this service is $25 or more based on when you want your appointment slot. The sooner your demand for an appointment slot, the more you will have to shell out.

Try applying in a different jurisdiction
If you are unable to secure an appointment date at the local VFS Global center, you should try and apply at the next closest jurisdiction. We advise you to turn your attention to other nearby centers.
In case you are applying for a Norway Schengen visa from New York and are unable to secure an appointment, you can try the nearby VFS global offices in Washington and Chicago.
Change the main Schengen consulate of your visit
In case the Norway consulates are booked out and you are unable to get that appointment slot prior to your visit, you can try your luck by applying to another consulate.
