What are the steps to getting an appointment with the Consulate General of Norway?

The very first thing you need to do is visit the official website of the Consulate General of Norway in the US.

You should be able to see this on the page that you are taken to. Once you’re here, click on “Visitor’s visa and residence permit“. This is your first step to booking an appointment with the Consulate.

Once you are here, click on “Visitor’s visa” as you need a short-stay visa for your travel to Norway. You will be taken to a page that shows you all the steps to applying for your visa. It is recommended that you read this carefully before you proceed further.

Scroll down on the same page to find the part that looks like in the image above. Under this, you will receive a hyperlink under the name “VFS Global” that will redirect you to start booking your appointment with the consulate.

Here, click on “Click Here“. You will be taken to another page where you will be needed to log in. If you are a new user, click on “New User“.

Fill in the application form, click on the dialog box next to “I’m not a robot“, and then click on “Submit“. After this, the page will give you all the necessary instructions to book your appointment with the consulate. Ensure that you fill in all the details as per your passport.

This should complete the process of getting an appointment with the consulate. It is necessary that you complete this step first because it might be quite difficult to get an appointment with the consulate.

After this, fill in your visa application form and print it out. You will also need to arrange all the necessary documents.

What are the documents that I will need to arrange to be submitted to the consulate?

Passport: Carry your original passport. It will need to be valid for at least 3 months from the date of your arrival to the US.

US Permanent Resident Permit: You will also need to carry your original residence permit and it needs to be valid for at least 3 months from the date of your arrival to the US.

Photograph: You will need to provide at least 2-3 photographs of yourself to the consulate. There are certain rules your photograph needs to follow for it to be approved by the consulate. Ensure that it satisfies all the criteria.

Cover Letter: This is another extremely essential document to be provided to the consulate for them to approve your visa. It should clearly mention your reason to travel to Norway and all the other Schengen countries (if necessary). It needs to also contain all the details of your flight itinerary and hotel bookings.
