Boracay is famous for its powdery white sand beaches. It is also a great place to go if you want to enjoy fun water sports activities.
It is known as one of the famous beaches in the Philippines and a popular destination for the youth, travelers, families, and couples. It is voted as the best island globally in Travel and Leisure, and international travel magazine.
So, if you are planning a trip to Boracay, and it is your first time to go there, here are the six vital things to know to get the most out of your trip:
1. Peak and off-peak seasons
Boracay’s off-peak season is during the summer months ‒ from March to May.
During this time, it is the go-to destination for a lot of Filipinos and even international tourists. You might also want to include national holidays when planning a trip to Boracay, such as during Christmas and New Year.
Note that the price for the hotels and accommodations are usually higher during this period.
If you have budget constraints, you might want to visit the island during the off-peak season instead, between July to November. The crowds are lesser during this period, and the prices for accommodations are generally lower.
2. There are two airports in Aklan
Note that there are two airports in Aklan: Caticlan and Kalibo.
However, Caticlan Airport is the nearest and most convenient. It is just a mere 30 minutes away from Borocay.
After you have claimed your luggage, you can take a tricycle or charter a bus or van that will take you to Caticlan Jetty point. From there, you can ride a boat that will take you directly to the island.
If you are coming from Kalibo Airport, you can either take a van or bus, and Caticlan’s travel time is 2 hours.
Airline carriers like Philippines Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia offer regular flights to these airports.
3. Drinking and smoking on the beach is prohibited
It was back in 2019 when the island opened its doors to the public again. It was previously closed down for six months due to pollution, and the island went under rehabilitation.
So, visitors are highly encouraged to respect the environment. See to it that you practice responsible tourism.
Do not litter at the beach, bring your eco-bags, and avoid using single-use plastic. Visitors are not allowed to drink and smoke on the beach area as well.
4. Boracay has other beaches to visit
When tourists often ask about Boracay, they can only think of White Beach, as it is the island’s most famous beach.
However, many other beaches are as beautiful, like Bulabog Beach, Diniwid Beach, Puka Shell Beach, and Ilig-Iligan Beach. These beaches feature those stunning white sand the island is famous for but are unique and special in their way.
5. You can enjoy many water activities
Boracay offers many fun and heart-pumping activities that will make your stay on the island enjoyable.
Apart from swimming and sunbathing, you also have the option to windsurf or kitesurf along Bulabog beach. Aside from that, you can try driving a four-wheeler, scuba dive, island hopping, or do an island tour.
If you are an active traveler who loves a little bit of adrenaline, then you will never run out of activities to do when you are here.
6. Station 1, 2, and 3
Often, many travelers face the dilemma of choosing which station to visit and booking a hotel in Boracay. Some might even ask what the difference between these three stations is.

If you are looking for budget accommodations, you can many of them at Station 3. Other than that, it is also a great place to be if you wanted to stay near the port or immerse yourself with the local life.
As compared with Station 2, the area is usually less crowded and have relatively fewer bars and restaurants.
Accommodations here are usually in mid-range prices. It is a great area to stay in if you want to be near D’Mall, where you could find several restaurants, bars, and shops.
A potential drawback, though, is the area can get crowded, especially during peak season.
If you want more access to the beach, you might want to consider staying in Station 1. That’s because it has the most expansive beach among the three stations.
